White Wines:



RieslingRiesling

Called the queen of the whites, it is the most important white wine grape in the world.
The best results to grow Riesling are achieved in cooler regions, as the grapes need time to ripen. Lovers of wine, count the steep vineyards of the Moselle region as some of the best Riesling plants worldwide.


In 1787 Prince Clemens Wenceslaus of Saxony proclaimed that in his territories only Riesling was allowed to be cultivated. Therefore the Moselle region became the biggest Riesling cultivation area in the world.

Charakter: frisch, stahlig, rassig, mineralisch
Farbe: hell-gelb mit Grünstich bis goldgelb
Aromen: Apfel, Pfirsich, Aprikose, Grapefruit; Markante Lagencharakter (Aromen
variieren nach Weinbergslage).
Essen: leichte Gerichte, zartes Fleisch, frischer Käse

 (Pinot blanc)

In the 14th Century the Pinot Blanc grape was mentioned for the first time in writing.

It is a light summer wine which is ideal to drink with a meal or to enjoy outside on the porch.

Charakter: würzig-pikant,  zarter Duft
Farbe: blass- bis hellgelb
Aromen: Nüsse, Birnen, Quitten
Essen: Kalb, Schwein, Geflügel, Fisch

Chardonnay

A world renowned wine that in the last few years have also been cultivated in Germany.

Charakter: rauchig
Farbe: zart- bis mittelgelb
Aromen: Walnüsse, Melone, Stachelbeeren
Essen: Meeresfrüchte, Spargel, Käse
 

Rivaner (Müller Thurgau)Rivaner

In 1882 the first Rivaner was cultivated by the vine-scientist Hermann Müller from the canton of Thurgau. Contrary to earlier opinions, the Rivaner vine is a cross between a Riesling and a Madleine Royale..

Charakter: mild-fruchtig, süffig
Farbe: blassgelb bis hellgelb
Aromen: feiner Muskatton
Essen: zart- aromatische Speisen


Rotweine

Pinot Noir


The pinot noir is one of the best-loved red wines worldwide and now also cultivated by us.

Charakter: vollmundig, aromatisch, samtig
Farbe: mittel- bis kräftig rot
Aromen: Mandeln, Sauerkirsche, schwarze Johannisbeere
Essen: Wildbraten, Käse

 


Regent

The promising new cultivation was only permitted in 1995 into the German vine catalogue. It is a cross between Diana and Chambourcin and is relatively sensitive to fungae.

Charakter: samtig – kräftig
Farbe: sehr farbintensiv
Aromen: Kirschen und Johannisbeeren
Essen: herzhafte Vesperplatte, intensive Fleischgerichte

Schwarzriesling

Pinot Meunier also called Black Riesling or Meunier or Schwarzriesling.
This red wine was first mentioned in the 16th century. Despite its name it only has its growth and form of vine in common with the Riesling.

Charakter: fruchtig, feingliedrig
Farbe: rubin- bis ziegelrot
Aromen: Sauerkirsche, rote Beerenfrüchte
Essen: kräftige Aufläufe

Rosé

A light-coloured wine made from red grapes, which are grown in the same manner as white wine. The colour of red grapes is in the skin of the grape; therefore the grapes are quickly pressed after harvesting so that little colour gets into the juice and later the wine.
